Visteon-Autopal s.r.o. located in Novy Jicin is a company with 4000 employees
and tradition of pride. 125 years of unbroken operation
in North Moravia (east part of Czechia). As from April 2000 a part of Visteon.
The main operation is production of headlights and back lights to the international
automotive industry. As a matter of fact export exceeds 95 per cent. 150 men in the toolroom
manages five. Charmilles die sinkers (Roboform 20, 400 and 810), and two Robofil wire cutters.
All of the EDMs equipped with reference systems from System 3R. The moulds produced
are from medium size up to 12 tonnes.
The Macro-system was introduced at Autopal in 1987 at the installation of a new Charmilles
die sinker. The last five years the MacoJunior-system has been used as reference system for
the graphite electrodes. As a matter of fact the price worthy MacroJunior is used to more
than 50 per cent at electrode manufacture and EDMing.
Dipl. Ing. Pavel Chalupa, responsible for the operations in the toolroom, explaines – “Autopal
is aimed at productivity, and this has been stressed during the latest years.
Here in the toolroom systematization and palletizing are the lead words. This is, as a matter
of fact, the prerequisites for producing more and more complex moulds. And the user
friendliness of the Macro system makes the situation even better. The customers demands
shorter lead times, and we can’t afford scrap. Neither in time, nor in money.”
Chalupa consider, that they now have the experience of systematization and palettizing,
to take the next step – automation. Today some 40 per cent of the electrode manufacture
is laid out on sub-contract. Thus, the planning is an investment in a WorkMaster robot
serving a machining center for electrode manufacture. An automatic production cell which
can run around-the-clock when so needed, and it will make Autopal more than self-sufficient
in electrode manufacture.
